3 Important Questions about Coronavirus

Never since the Spanish flu of 1918 has a pandemic captured the imagination and consciousness of the people. Covid-19, better known as Coronavirus, has been mercilessly sweeping across the globe from the rural towns of America to the bustling cities of China. To better understand this disease we must first ask these 3 important questions about coronavirus: “Is there a cure?”, “Where did the disease originate from?”, “How bad will it get?”. Hopefully we can get a better understanding of this disease if we answer these questions and more.

1.Is there a cure?

Is there a cure?

The simple answer is no, there currently is no cure for the strain of Coronavirus responsible for this pandemic. There are, however, precautions you can take to prevent the spread. First, wash your hands regularly, washing your hands kills the Coronavirus germs. Second, cover up your hands and face with medically approved face masks and gloves when going out. Third, distance yourself from other people; the CDC recommends staying at least six feet away from someone. Lastly, cancel all non-essential business trips and chores; an example of an essential business would be a gas station, grocery store, and pet supply store.

2.Where did the disease originate form?

Wuhan, China

At the beginning of the outbreak it was originally thought that bats being sold in open-air animal markets in Wuhan, China was the cause of the disease. However, bats were not being sold at the market where the disease was first discovered, so experts came to the conclusion that perhaps pangolins, which are often sold at these markets, were to blame. Diseases mutate and spread quickly in these markets due to the cramped and unsanitary conditions. The disease, which jumped from animal to human, is now jumping from human to human.

3.How bad will this pandemic get?

It is hard to say how many people this disease will infect but some experts have some ideas. Fall and winter are expected to be a harrowing time for this pandemic because this disease spreads faster in cold conditions. Additionally, the CDC and many other organizations and agencies say we are not doing enough to stop this disease and things will only get worse unless we take drastic action.

Conclusion

We are facing a threat unlike any other we’ve faced in over 100 years. With millions infected, this disease will surely leave a lasting impact on the people it has affected. Hopefully, by answering these 3 important questions about coronavirus that were asked above we have come to a better understanding of this disease. This pandemic requires everyone to do their part in preventing the spread; stay home, wear gloves and face masks, and most importantly, keep your distance.
